Any material that is intended to come in contact with food is considered a Food Contact Material (FCM) which are covered by FCM regulations and good manufacturing practices regulation. Some materials used in food contact have specific measures, such as plastic and ceramics. For some of the other material types, other resources, guidance and best practice, needs to be applied.

IQS advise on the testing protocols for FCMs that are easy to understand and implement.

Giftware and Christmas

IQS also have experience in quality management programs for Giftware and Christmas products, including Christmas crackers which have specific labelling and compliance requirements.

Many products in these categories can stray into toy legislation if they have play value for children. We can help with evaluating the compliance needs of these products.

A company placing a product on the market is responsible for the safety and compliance of that product.

IQS can advise on gathering the right data and documentation required to demonstrate that the product is safe and complies with all applicable legislation.

This can include developing testing protocols for specific materials and products types that best demonstrate compliance. As well as an understanding the data needed from the supply chain, to verify and substantiate compliance.
